Weather for the Copper Basin 300

On the eve of the Copper Basin 300, temperatures in the Fairbanks area have dropped. They are calling for -40 tonight. Luckily, the Copper Basin is run out of Glennallen. The forecast for tomorrow for race time is +5 to -5 degrees with 10 mph winds. The temperatures are expected to drop to -15 for Saturday night and continuing to fall until reaching -25 on Sunday night. For the end of the race on Monday, the temps should start on an upward swing again. Along the trail, the bigger enemy is the wind. Along with cold temperatures, the winds are forecast for 10-15mph out of the northeast and as Allen says, that’s the worst.
